One of CFCU’s most important guiding principles continues to be the belief that giving back by volunteering time, energy, money and expertise will make our communities better places to live and work. CFCU Day at Lynah RinkCFCU Day at Lynah Rink

CFCU helped pack Lynah Rink with over 2,000 fans to watch the showdown between Cornell and Harvard Women’s Hockey Teams. CFCU members got in for free; we handed out water bottles, ran the ever-popular ‘Sign Creation Station’ and even held a center ice slap shot contest for $500 to the winner and $500 to the United Way of Tompkins County! The Credit Union also participated in Kid’s Day at Newman Arena, where Big Red Men’s Basketball earned their first victory of the season!

Cancer Resource Center of the Finger LakesCancer Resource Center Walkathon and 5K

CFCU served as a bronze sponsor for the Cancer Resource Center Walkathon & 5K on Saturday, October 26. Employees also raised money online and took part in the event.

United Way Day of Caring 2013United Way Campaign and Day of Caring Drive

CFCU served as a Pacesetter in the United Way of Tompkins County Campaign and Day of Caring Drive. Employees and members collected 4500 items and delivered them to Stewart Park on the Day of Caring. The Credit Union also participated in the United Way of Cortland County Campaign and Day of Caring Drive and attended the UWCC kickoff breakfast.

The Credit Union was the Presenting Sponsor for the SPCA of Tompkins County March for the Animals on Saturday, September 28. CFCU employees, family members, and furry friends raised additional money for the SPCA and participated in the walk.

Relay For Life 2013Relay For Life

Dozens of Credit Union staff stepped out to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life events in Tompkins and Cortland counties. Participants and survivors came together to celebrate what they've overcome and remember loved ones lost to this disease.

Cornell Elves Backpack Program 2013The Elves Program

Once again this year, CFCU branches were donation points for collection of children's backpacks in support of the Cornell Elves Backpack Program. New backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies are distributed to benefit children in need throughout our community.

Family Reading Partnership Book Drive 2013Family Reading Partnership Book Drive

During the month of July, CFCU collected books for the Family Reading Partnership. Members and employees donated 816 books to help fill the Bright Red Bookshelves.

Grandparents Support GroupGrandparents Support Group

CFCU Community Credit Union is pleased to announce our sponsorship of Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca’s Support Group for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.

“CFCU has been a long-time supporter of Family & Children’s Services and we’re honored to sponsor the Grandparents Support Group. This is a unique program in our community that addresses an important caregiver dynamic,” says CFCU President & CEO, Lisa Whitaker.

Facilitated by a Family & Children’s Service therapist in a supportive, educational environment, the group addresses unique challenges, issues, and solutions for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca provides affordable, professional services that support children, families, and organizations in finding solutions to the challenges of life today.
