New Phone Scam Alert!

Ithaca, NY, July 21, 2008 — Credit Union members across the country are being targeted with a new phone scam. You may receive an automated phone message claiming that your Visa Card has been suspended and instructing you to call an 800 number to reactivate it. When a person calls the number, they are prompted to dial in their account number, expiration date and PIN number, then instructed to press "1" to reactivate their card. Instead, you will have given the scammers all the information they need. Duplicate cards are being created in Spain and used to withdraw cash or make purchases.
